7.26 子曰：“圣人，吾不得而见之矣；得见君子者，斯可矣。”子曰：“善人，吾不得而见之矣；得见有恒者，斯可矣。亡而为有，虚而为盈，约而为泰1，难乎有恒矣。”
【译文】
孔子说：“圣人，我是不能看见了；能看见君子，就可以了。” 又说：“善人，我是不能看见了；能看见保持操守的人，就可以了。本来没有却装作有，本来空虚却装作充实，本来穷困却装作豪奢，这样的人是很难保持操守的。”

孔子说：“圣人，我没有看到；能看见君子，就很好了。” 又说：“善人，我没有看到；能看见坚持守志并实践的人，就很好了。本来没有却装作有，本来空虚却装作充实，本来穷困却装作豪奢，这样的人很难坚持守志并实践了。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “I have not seen a sage, and it is good enough to see a noble person.”
He also said: “I have not seen a kind person, it is good enough to see a person who persist in adhering to his aspiration and putting them into practice. If a person pretends to have something when he does not have, pretends to be full in spirit when he is empty, and pretends to be extravagant when he is poor, it would be difficult for such a person to persist in adhering to his aspirations and putting them into practice.”
