5.7 子曰：“道不行，乘桴浮于海1。从我者，其由与？”子路闻之喜。子曰：“由也好勇过我，无所取材2。”
【译文】
孔子说：“我的主张不能实行，我就乘坐小筏子漂往海外。能跟随我的，大概只有仲由吧？”子路听到这话很高兴。孔子说：“仲由在好勇这点上超过我，但这是不足取的。”

【English Translation】
Confucius said: “If my doctrines cannot be carried out, I will travel overseas by a small raft. Zhong You1 is probably the only one who can follow me.” Zi Lu (Zhong You) was very glad to hear this. Confucius said: “Zhong You surpasses me in the courage, and has no other talent except it.”
