14.34 或曰：“以德报怨，何如？”子曰：“何以报德？以直报怨，以德报德。”

有人问：“用恩惠来回报怨恨，怎么样？”孔子说：“那么又用什么来回报恩惠呢？应该用正直来回报怨恨，用恩惠来回报恩惠。”

有人问：“用德行来回报怨恨，怎么样？”孔子说：“那么又用什么来回报福慧恩泽呢？应该顺应当下的直心来回报怨恨，用德行来回报福慧恩泽。”

【English Translation】
Someone asked Confucius: “How about repaying resentment with virtue?” Confucius said: “Then what is used to repay the kindness and grace? We should repay the resentment according to the immediate sincerity, and repay kindness and grace with virtue.”
