17.5 公山弗扰以费畔1，召，子欲往。 子路不说，曰：“末之也已2，何必公山氏之之也3？” 子曰：“夫召我者，而岂徒哉？如有用我者，吾其为东周乎！”
【译文】
公山弗扰盘踞在费城发动叛乱，召孔子，孔子想去。 子路很不高兴，他说：“没有可去之处那就算了，为什么一定要去公山氏那里呢？” 孔子说：“那召我的人，难道只是空召我去吗？如果真有人用我，我将能在东方兴起周道吧！”

【English Translation】
Gong Shan Fu Rao1 occupied Fei city and launched a rebellion. He summoned Confucius, and Confucius wanted to go.
Zi Lu2 was very unhappy. He said: “Isn’t there anywhere else to go? Why must we go to work for the person who rebelled?”
Confucius said: “Could he summoned me for nothing? If someone uses me, I will surely live up to the trust and revive the ways of Zhou in the east.”
