7.11 子谓颜渊曰：“用之则行，舍之则藏1，惟我与尔有是夫。”子路曰：“子行三军2，则谁与3？” 子曰：“暴虎冯河4，死而无悔者，吾不与也。必也临事而惧，好谋而成者也。”
【译文】
孔子对颜渊说：“如用我，我就做事，如不用我，我就藏身，只有我和你能够这样吧。” 子路说：“您若率领军队，那么与谁共事呢？” 孔子说：“徒手斗虎，徒步过河，死了都不后悔的人，我不会与他共事。与我共事的一定是遇事小心谨慎，善于谋略而能成事的人。”

孔子对颜回说：“如用我，我就做事，如不用我，我就藏身，只有我和你能够这样吧。” 子路说：“您若率领军队，要带谁去呢？” 孔子说：“徒手斗虎，徒步过河，死了都不后悔的人，这种人我不会带的。我要带的人一定是遇事考虑周祥，善于谋略而有成功把握的人。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said to Yan Hui: “If I am employed, I will act. If I am not employed, I will hide. Only you and I can do this.”
Zi Lu said: “If you lead an army, whom will you take with you?”
Confucius said: “I will not take those who fight tigers with bare fists and cross a river on foot without any regret even if they die. The person I will take must be someone who considers things carefully, good at strategizing and confident to succeed.”
