1.9 曾子曰：“慎终追远1，民德归厚矣。”
【译文】
曾子说：“能谨慎办理父母的丧事，追念死亡已久的远祖，这样就能使百姓的德性趋归敦厚。”

曾子说：“慎重地办理亲人的丧事，追念逝去已久的祖先而不忘怀，如此便可使百姓的品德变得淳厚。”
【YZG English Translation】
Zeng Zi said： “A person should deal with parents funerals solemnly and memorize the spirits of ancestor reverently. By doing so, civilians will return to the status of original good moral character.”
