5.26 颜渊、季路侍。子曰：“盍各言尔志1？” 子路曰：“愿车马衣轻裘与朋友共敝之而无憾2。” 颜渊曰：“愿无伐善3，无施劳4。” 子路曰：“愿闻子之志。” 子曰：“老者安之，朋友信之，少者怀之。”

颜渊、季路侍立在孔子身旁。 孔子说：“你们何不各谈谈自己的志向？” 子路说：“我愿拿自己的车马衣服与朋友共同享用，用坏了也无憾恨。” 颜渊说：“我愿不夸耀自己的好处，不显扬自己的功劳。” 子路对孔子说：“我们也想听到您的志向。” 孔子说：“使老人得到安逸，使朋友们信任我，使年轻人怀念我。”

Yan Hui and Zi Lu stood beside Confucius. Confucius said: “Why don’t you talk about your aspirations?” Zi Lu said: “I am willing to share my carriage, clothes with my friends and I will have no resentment even if they are worn out.” Yan Hui said: “I hope I would not boast of my merits, nor flaunt my achievement.” Zi Lu said to Confucius: “We also wonder what your aspiration is.” Confucius said: “I wish the elders can be settled, the friends can trust each other, and the young can receive good care.”
