5.21 子曰：“宁武子1，邦有道，则知；邦无道，则愚。其知可及也，其愚不可及也。”
【译文】
孔子说：“宁武子这个人，国家政治清明时，就很聪明；国家政治危乱时，则显得很愚笨。他的聪明别人可以达到，他的愚笨是别人达不到的。”

孔子说：“宁武子这个人，国家政治清明时，就很有智慧；国家政治危乱时，则佯装愚笨。他的智慧别人还可以达到，他的佯装愚笨就是别人无法比拟的了。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Ning Wu Zi1 is a person who is very wise when the state is in a well-regulated political environment. When the state is in political turmoil, he pretends to be fool. His wisdom can be reached by others, his pretending to be fool is unmatched.”
